Kim Gideon 김기드온

김기드온 작가는 점,선,면의 조형원리를 가장 직관적으로 표현하는 작업을 지속해왔다. 장식적인 요소를 덜어내고, 단순하고 간결한 물성의 반복을 통해 가구의 본질적 형태를 보존하고자 한다. 작가는 현재 작업의 주요 소재로 와이어 메시와 로프를 택하여 작업을 전개만다 와이어 메시는 XYZ축의 그리드를 형성함으로써 3자원적 구조감을 나타내며 오브제의 기하학성을 극대화한다. 기계성이 느껴서는 와이아 메시 위로는 폴리에스테르 로프의 부분적 위빙을 더해 수공예적인 짜임으로 상보하여 따뜻함과 편안함을 더한다.

Artist Gideon Kim has most intuitively expressed the design principles of dot, line and surface continuously. He eliminates the decorative elements and tries to preserve the furniture’s basic structure through repetition of simple physical properties. The artist currently utilizes wire mesh and rope as his main materials. Wire mesh forms a XYZ grid which enables a 3D structure and maximizes the geometry of the objet. On top of the wire mesh which may feel mechanical,
a handcrafted texture made of polyester rope is adorned to add warmth and comfort.
